Cool New Features, Courtesy of ZipList

ZipList Recipe Box

Dear readers,

A quick note to let you know that I’ve partnered with ZipList.com to bring you some neat new features:

  • Print Recipe. This is a functionality that many of you have been clamoring for. While you can print recipes straight from the web, the print out will include pages of stuff that you probably don’t need or want. Now you can print out a recipe card with just the thing you need: the recipe itself! Go down to the bottom of any new post and you’ll see a short-form version of the recipe on a clearly marked card as shown below. Just click on “Print Recipe” in the upper right-hand corner. It’s that simple.

Now, if you sign up with ZipList, you’ll get these additional functions:

  • Save Recipe. Right next to the Print Recipe button on each recipe card, you’ll find a “Save Recipe” button that will send the recipe to a personal Recipe Box on ZipList.com. This way, you can save all your favorite recipes from Memorie di Angelina in one place for easy reference. And you can save recipes from any other participating website, including some of my favorite sites like Italian Food Forever, Cookin’ Canuck, Rasa Malaysia, The Italian Dish, as well as standbys like Bon Appetit, Epicurious, Simply Recipes, Martha Stewart and lots of others. Best of all, your Recipe Box is fully searchable, by name, ingredient, whatever.
  • Shopping List. Yet another great feature: ZipList will add the ingredients from recipes you select to a printable and customizable shopping list. You can add whatever other ingredients and create as many lists as you want,  so you can use this feature as your weekly shopping list.

To access your Recipe Box and Shopping List right from this site: I’ve placed two links in the sidebar that’s bring you right there. You can also use these links to sign up for a ZipList account (which, by the way, is totally free). You can also sign up simply by clicking on “Save Recipe” on any post and you’ll be prompted to set up your account. And ZipList even has an app if you want to take your recipe box and shopping list on the road.

For the moment, I’ve only had time to add this feature to my most recent posts, but I’ll be working hard over the next couple of weeks so you’ll be able to use this functionality throughout the site. Please be patient while we’re under renovation…

I do hope you’ll enjoy these new features that will help you get even more out of Memorie di Angelina. And, as ever, if you have any questions or feedback, don’t hesitate to drop me a line.

Happy cooking!
Frank

Wow!!! Thank you, Frank. I’ve been using ZipList for over a year now and save all of my favorite recipes there. Up to now, I’ve just been saving yours into a folder in my email and then copying by hand when I need them. But this will be so much better to be able to print out. Thank you thank you.

Thanks, Bonnie! That’s exactly why I went with ZipList. Hope you’ll find it useful. Cheers, Frank

I know my blog is a pain for recipes because of it’s black background. I found a work-around for that by hitting print and then transferring to a PDF instead of printing it. You can even shorten the doc and only copy the recipe and not comments… also doesn’t waste paper.

That said, your version with ziplist is pretty snazzy with a shopping list too. I look forward to seeing how it works.

There are definitely work-arounds that I’ve been suggesting to readers. (Another one is to email the post to yourself and print that.) But this makes things so much easier, with more functions to boot.
