  1. Thank you for the wonderful Flipboard edition of Memorie di Angelina! Your site continues to delight me because it the recipes bring back the memories of my mom, Anna, who has been gone 21 years this June.
Today I looked at your recipe for Potato Croquets which my mom made when we had left over mashed potatoes. As she made them, she would always tell me that they were her father’s favorite dish (William Guilermo Primavera). He had died when I was only 6 months old, so I only knew him from her cherished stories told at dinner time. My Grandpa was a merchant of fruits and vegetables. He had a vegetable market somewhere on First Avenue in Manhattan. He also used to play the mandolin and lead the wedding marches at wedding receptions. Since he loved to sing, my mom said often times visiting singers would come to their home in the evenings to sing and eat! My paternal Grandpa, Dominic Ianniello, had a bread bakery in Harlem. The Bari and Naples regions are where my parents’ families came from. Thanks again for your truly wonderful site that keeps bringing me back to treasured times!

    1. Thanks so much for the kinds words, Joann! It sounds like we have similar ancestry—my family is also from Campania and Puglia so I guess it’s no wonder there’s so many familiar dishes here. I’m so glad I could bring back such wonderful memories.

We'd love to hear your questions and thoughts! And if you tried the recipe, we'd love to hear how it went!
